Children and youth are welcome in all facets of UUMC life. Our children and youth programs aspire to show children that the church is a place where they are welcome and loved, and to plant the seeds of Christian faith.
Sunday School classes and choirs provide regular fellowship and learning opportunities. In addition, special events bring special activities. A Mardi Gras pancake supper marks the beginning of Lent. Easter brings an Easter egg hunt and celebration. Summer means a week of Vacation Bible School. Our newest arrivals are welcomed during the Christmas pageant, a recreation of the Christmas story the children and youth present each December.

UUMC nurtures the growth of children’s faith. Third graders are presented with Bibles. Confirmation classes match youths with mentors to help explore the meaning of church membership. Youths participate in Sunday evening Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF) activities and organize an annual Youth Sunday worship service.
Child care is provided for young children during worship services, but children can also attend worship. The children’s integral role at UUMC is exemplified by their creation of a time capsule during UUMC’s capital campaign kickoff event in 2008. We hope these children will be helping their own children plant the seeds of Christian faith at UUMC when the time capsule is opened in 25 years.
