United Methodist Women (UMW)

Not necessarily your mother’s UMW, the United Methodist Women of UUMC have a lot of fun while learning about and acting upon key global issues, developing strong personal bonds, and supplementing their spiritual growth.

There are four UMW circles or groups at Univeristy UMC. For details about meeting times and activities, see this link.

The group welcomes women of all ages who want to tap into a treasure trove of members with a wealth of life experience, intelligence, spirit, and compassion – women who take action. At UUMC and worldwide, UMW has proved to be an effective tool for studying and addressing social issues such as poverty and homelessness, racism and immigration, lack of health care for children, faltering education systems, environmental and economic injustice, and religious intolerance and terrorism.

The group presents programs for church members, joins in efforts to advocate for women, children, and youth, and supports the church’s global ministries. The work of UMW at UUMC begins with membership in one of the group’s circles, which meet monthly at the church. For more information, email the church office at office@uumc.org or call 512-478-9387.
