Music for Children & Youth
Children of all ages are invited to participate in the music ministry at University UMC. We strive to give children meaningful, fun experiences, teach new musical skills and encourage children to share their musical gifts.
The Wesley Choir provides an opportunity for children in second through fifth grades to share their musical gifts with the congregation. No previous choral or music training is required, just a desire to sing. Regular attendance is encouraged. Children accompany their parents to the 11:00 am services, then leave the Sanctuary service after the scripture readings (children in the Chapel service are gathered simultaneously by a youth assistant). Rehearsal concludes around Noon, when parents are asked to pick up their children in the choir room.
We value the opportunity to engage in the art of music making with all of the children at University UMC. Thank you for sharing your children with us!
Sunday School Music | 9:45 am – 10:00 am
Children from three years of age to first grade participate in the Cherub Choir during the last part of Sunday School hour. Activities include singing, movement, listening and the introduction of early music skills. These children share their music in church on designated Sundays throughout the year.
