Lisa Allen helps make the church shine! She keeps the facility clean and welcoming, and she prepares rooms and meeting spaces for guests and members. Her work is a key part of the hospitality that University UMC offers to all.
Thomas Azar is our magnificent organist. Thomas, a native of Texas, earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance and Bachelor of Music degree in Music Theory and Composition at the University of Texas in El Paso. He earned his Master of Music degree in Piano Performance at the University of Arizona in Tucson, and his Graduate Diploma in Piano Performance at the Manhattan School of Music in New York. Thomas maintains a full studio of pupils and composes commercial music with his brother, Jeffrey Azar for their band “Demi the Daredevil.”
Bonnie Luce is happy to be a part of the UUMC team once again, but with a whole new role! Bonnie just recently graduated with a BA in Psychology from Texas State University and hopes to begin her MSW at UT or Texas State next August. She will also get married next July to her fiancé Brien. Bonnie and Brien do not have children, however they have two loving cats named Puffington and Mr. Grey.

Children’s Music Director
Cynthia DePrang leads Sunday School music for two year olds through First Graders from 9:45 to 10 am each week, and she directs the Wesley Choir and Sixth Grade leaders during our worship services. Cynthia comes to us with a wealth of experience as an elementary school music teacher, choir member and choir leader.

Early Childhood Center Director
Madelynn Fierova-Martinez is UUMC’s Early Childhood Center Director. She has a BA in psychology from Texas State, where she also attended graduate school. She was previously an assistant director at a preschool in San Marcos, and she interned at San Marcos High School working with at-risk youth.

Originally from Guatemala, Hugo Gonzalez has been on staff at UUMC for more than 10 years. He says his work background is “a little bit of everything,” including construction work, preparing food at Bob’s Barbeque in Round Rock and even washing dishes. His homemade chicken soup is, quite simply, the best we’ve ever tasted. Hugo enjoys working in the church environment. His philosophy: “I like to be happy all the time. I take pride in everything I do, even cleaning restrooms. I still have to do it anyway, so I might as well enjoy it.”
Director of Campus, Young Adult, and Senior Adult Ministries
Megan Otto comes to UUMC from Topeka, Kan., where she served as Campus Minister for Ichtus Campus Ministry at Washburn University and the Associate Pastor for First UMC. Megan oversees weekly Bible studies and small groups, provides pastoral care and leads worship for UUMC’s Campus Ministry. Megan has been on staff at UUMC since 2014, serving as our Director of Campus and Young Adult Ministries and will now also serve our senior adults, doing pastoral care and visiting congregants at assisted living centers and hospitals. She holds an Masters in Divinity from SMU’s Perkins School of Theology and a BA in history from Southwestern College. Megan is an avid sports fan who enjoys talking to people about the crazy places that God shows up in our lives.

Joining UUMC and the church choir in 1996, Jan Reed finds working behind the scenes in the church office fascinating as she manages the church database, membership reports and the church calendar. She also assists in the preparation of worship services. Jan leads the Centering Prayer group that meets at UUMC on Sunday mornings. When she’s not at church, she substitute teaches at Lee Elementary. Her husband, Jim, is a video editor and her daughter, Lily, is a recent graduate of Occidental College in Los Angeles. Jan holds a degree in Music from UT and has sung in the chorus of the Austin Lyric Opera.

Finance & Operations Manager/Wedding Coordinator
UUMC member Cindy Reeves joined the staff in August of 2010, and has also been our Wedding Coordinator since her own wedding here in 2008. She is responsible for accounts payable, contribution statements, payroll and budgeting. She also manages bookkeeping for the Early Childhood Center (ECC). Cindy has been involved with the Open Door Ministry at UUMC since she joined the church in 2007. She is also on the board of a non-profit that is affiliated with the church, Cooking up English. Some of Cindy’s favorite activities include volunteering with the Texas Exes, planning events and weddings, and attending UT football games.

Maren Roberts previously held the title of Office Administrator before taking over the as Communications Director in August 2016. She is passionate about art and graphic design, and these creative outlets have been nurtured in both of her roles here at UUMC. Maren holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music. She has served as a vocalist and keyboardist in a few local bands, and she is continuously composing music. She is also a certified Kundalini yoga instructor, and greatly enjoys the spiritual outlet of her personal practice. Some of Maren’s favorite activities include reading, meditation, gaming, and watching horror movies.

Children’s Ministry Director
Natasha Ulack was UUMC’s Interim Director of UUMC’s Early Childhood Center before taking on the role of Children’s Ministry Director in August 2010. Natasha worked at the ECC for three years in various capacities and before that taught Spanish to elementary school-aged children in Austin. She is currently completing her teaching certification in Elementary Education at Austin Community College. She studied Spanish and sociology at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA.

Dr. Jolene Webster
Director of Music Ministries
Dr. Jolene Webster directs the Music Ministries at UUMC including the Sanctuary Choir, Cantamus Youth Choir and UUMC Orchestra. She also oversees the Children’s Choir Program, Student Assistant Choral Scholarship Program, Vocal and Instrumental Music, as well as Music in Worship. Dr. Webster has served professionally in Texas Music Education since 1989 and as Director of Music Ministries in several churches across four states. She holds a Doctor of Education Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, a Master of Music in Choral Conducting and Vocal Performance, a Bachelor of Sacred Music Degree, and a Bachelor of Religious Education Degree. Additionally, Dr. Webster is also a Seminary graduate and is a commissioned and installed ELCA rostered Minister of Word and Service. She holds a Lifetime All-Level Music Texas Teaching Certification from Texas Education Agency.
