A new national NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll highlights a couple of stark realities faced by U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-El Paso) and Democrats across the state trying to build a blue wave. Their core constituencies are, yet again, less interested in the midterm elections than core Republican constituencies.  Come and listen as Jeff Blaylock explains how Texas got to where we are today, offers predictions for the upcoming election and discusses some practical ways we at UUMC can encourage our friends and neighbors to vote.

Jeff is a political junkie, longtime public policy wonk and former Texas Legislature staffer who has worked political campaigns in Texas and several other states, ranging from school boards to legislators to governors to referenda. He is a public and government affairs consultant based in Austin, Texas, who offers his keen insights about Lone Star State politics as Texas Election Source.
