Join Ginger Geyer in the UUMC arts studio (4th floor) for a workshop over 4 to 6 weeks (flexible to work with your schedule) as we create sculptures that evoke the Holy in the Common using paper collage images, words and theological reflection. Finished objects will be yours for indoor display! If you have any questions, please email Ginger at gingergeyer@gmail.com.

Do we need to bring anything?
We’ll furnish most supplies, you’ll need to bring a hard object to upcycle into a sculpture. Look in a Goodwill, thrift store, junk shop or maybe even your garage!
The object needs to be smooth, solid, hard and medium sized (app. 12” on one dimension, i.e larger than a mug and smaller than an ironing board) Also, consider finding something that lends itself to metaphor, gives you a starting point. Parts of the object can be left uncovered. Materials that won’t work well— baskets, soft toys, fabric pillows, perforated items like a tennis racket, colander or grill, heavily textured or complex items.
Other optional supplies include: Apron (or wear clothes that can get messy), Elmers glue, a favorite pair of small scissors, paper collage materials, children’s books to collage with, or a one inch paintbrush.
What will we do each week?
June 17: instructions, talk about ordinary objects and metaphors
June 24: bring your object, prepare surface
July 1: go through files and books for sorting topics)
July 8: continue sorting, begin pasting
July 15: pasting
July 22: finish it off
