Worship Sunday @ 11 amScripture: Matthew 1:18-25
Join us for worship as we celebrate the 2nd Sunday in Advent. We will light the candle of Peace on the Advent Wreath and enjoy the children’s annual Christmas Pageant in worship. Pastor Earl is preaching and his sermon is entitled “Chosen Family.” The sermon text is Matthew 1:18-25. We will also have holy communion and present baby ornaments to babies born this year in the life of our community. Everyone is invited to the Advent Festival following worship. |

“We don't need to be related to relate We don't need to share genes or a surname You are, you are My chosen, chosen family So what if we don't look the same? We been going through the same thing Yeah, you are, you are My chosen, chosen family I chose you You chose me We’re alright now.” - from the song “Chosen Family” by Rina Sawayama |

Poinsettia Orders
It’s the last week to order poinsettias! The deadline for dedicating a poinsettia in honor or memory of a loved one is December 7!
You may dedicate a poinsettia in memory of, or in honor or, a loved one. Each plant is $12 and you may order at uumc.org/poinsettias. If you’d prefer to pay via cash or check, there are forms available for you in the Front Office. Poinsettias will be in the sanctuary through the Advent season and Christmas Eve. You may pick up your poinsettias after the service on December 25th. We will publish a list of memorials and honorees in the Lessons & Carols worship bulletin for all orders placed before November 30. |

Resources for Grief and Loss
If you are struggling this season you are not alone. We’ve complied some of our favorite resources about grief during the holiday season as well as some other kinds of loss. You can find them at uumc.org/longest-night-resources. Read them and share them with a friend who might need them. |

Advent Offering
This year’s Advent Offering will go to The Immigration Law & Justice Network, the parent organization of Austin Region Justice for Our Neighbors (ARJFON). This UMC-affiliated non-profit is passionately engaged in serving immigrants as they seek legal status in the United States, by providing free or low-cost expert legal counsel, advocacy, and support services. Through affiliated sites across the country, Immigration Law & Justice Network pursues justice for all those they serve, while offering a sense of safety, trust, and belonging. Learn more on their website.
If you would like to contribute to this year’s Advent offering, write “Advent Offering” on the offering envelope or memo section of your check. You can also give by visiting our website and donating to the “Advent Offering.” At this time of the year when we remember the birth of Jesus, we also acknowledge that he was a refugee and recall the journey of his parents who fled their home in search of safety. We are grateful for organizations like ILJN who are committed to the work of justice for immigrants and refugees. Their vision is, “a nation where every immigrant has access to justice in an anti-racist immigration system that honors the dignity of all people.” Amen! |

Village People Directory Photos
Help us achieve our 200-person goal to publish our Village People Directory!
In an effort to help make new friends and strengthen our overall church community, we’re expanding our online church directory! We’re calling it “The Village People.” Every Sunday in Advent we’ll be in the courtyard taking photos for the directory. Take a photo, fill out the questionnaire, and make an account to access the directory! Once we get 200 people enrolled, we’ll start printing copies for those who would prefer a printed version. Questions? Contact Natasha at natasha@uumc.org. |

From greeter and ushers to communion servers to candle lighters/extinguishers, there are lots of jobs available. If you’ll be here on Christmas Eve, we’d love the help.
