| Just a few hours left to give! We’re nearing the end of the 24 hours of giving across Central Texas! During this time the residents of Central Texas are encouraged to support non-profits that do good in our community. And during Amplify Austin, there are matching grants to help make your dollars go further. |
|
| Open DoorUMC relies on Amplify Austin funds to supplement the church budget for Open Door and Fig Leaf, to help provide nutritious meals, crucial clothing, and supplies to our unhoused neighbors every Saturday morning. And the need is growing: the average number of guests each week increased by 75% in 2023 compared to 2022. To help meet this need, our goal is to raise $10,000, which generous friends have offered to match. Donate here.
Micah 6UUMC is a founding member of the Micah 6 coalition, and the Micah 6 food pantry is an important source of sustenance for our neighbors. You can donate early and double your gift through an automatic match from the Micah 6 board of directors. The first $17,650 donated will be automatically matched dollar for dollar. Donate here. |

Worship Sunday @ 11 amScripture: Mark 6:32-44 and Ephesians 3:20-21
It is the 3rd Sunday in Lent and the scripture lessons come to us from Mark 6:32-44 and Ephesians 3:20-21. The Gospel lesson is the feeding of the multitudes and will be shared in a special storytelling way by Melissa Wiginton. Pastor Teresa is preaching and the sermon title is “Together, the Impossible is Possible.” We continue hearing from church members in our “Tell Me Something Good” series and this Sunday Children’s Director Jillian Moore is working with tweens Addie Murphy and Amelia Flores who will share some good news. The choir’s anthem is “You Do Not Walk Alone”, a Traditional Irish Blessing arranged by Elaine Hagenberg. |

Jesus models a way to be in community by coming together and sharing what we have, dispelling perceived impossibilities. The good news empowers us to believe in the miracles that can become possible through the power of community. — A Sanctified Art |

Lenten Offering
This year’s Lenten Offering will go to Austin Sanctuary Network
As it reads on their website, Austin Sanctuary Network is “a place where love and protection are living realities. Based on this, the Austin Sanctuary Network (ASN) is a coalition of faith communities, immigrants and other community members of civil society and organizations in and around Austin, Texas, that support immigrants fleeing violence or in danger of deportation. Our values include honor and respect for every individual and an inclusive community composed of equals with a foundation of non-violence. We confront violent structures and actions with bold compassion and courageous love, standing up for people’s rights, regardless of status.” Learn more on their website.
If you would like to contribute to this year’s Lenten offering, write “Lenten Offering” on the offering envelope or memo section of your check. You can also give by visiting our website and donating to “Special Offerings.” |

Immigration & Rights Resources
In response to recent events, we’ve received several requests to add websites, events, and opportunities to the Econnection and others asking how to help. The Río Texas Conference has put together a resource hub with lots of good information. We also always recommend Austin Region Justice for Our Neighbors, to whom UUMC has been a long time supporter. Their website has a variety of ways to give or get involved. You can also check out the From Our Neighbors and Volunteer Opportunities sections of the Econnection for more specific opportunities we have to share. |
