We Are Becoming…Citizens of the World
We kick off our Stewardship Season with a new sermon series “We are becoming . . . “ The ellipses are intentional and included as a reminder that God is not finished with us yet and that we are all a work in progress. The Spirit is alive and on the move at University UMC.
As Finance Chair John Bridges shared in this week’s Econnection, “The pews on Sunday mornings are becoming more filled with energy and longing for connection. Tuesday night classrooms are becoming laboratories of learning. Wednesdays are becoming welcoming times for choirs and college students. Saturday mornings are becoming home to those who need a hand. Small groups and mission work fill the calendar. We are becoming …”
In worship this Sunday we celebrate World Communion Sunday and Pastor Teresa’s sermon is “We are Becoming Citizens of the World.” The sermon text is I Corinthians 12:4-31.
“I look upon all the world as my parish.”

Prayer of St. Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled, as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen
