Help UUMC get out the vote!

Nobody will ever deprive the American people of the right to vote except the American people themselves and the only way they could do this is by not voting.

~ Franlin D. Roosevelt

IT IS NOT ENOUGH TO SIMPLY VOTE. WE MUST HELP OTHERS MAKE THEIR VOICE HEARD. WE CAN DO THAT IN SEVERAL WAYS.

REGISTER

One of the first steps you can do is help people register to vote. The best way to do this is to become a registered Volunteer Deputy Registrar (VDR). VDR’s are responsible for officially registering people to vote in the state of Texas. All you have to do become a VDR is attend a one hour online training. If you’re already a VDR then check out a few of our dates below to come help us register folks on UT’s Campus!

EDUCATE

After people have registered to vote, navigating the ins and outs of voting can be overwhelming. Where can I vote? What’s on the ballot? Who is representing me? Being able to help people answer these questions is empowering. We’ve put together a list of resources below that will help answer many of the most common questions. UUMC is also working on a training to help empower our own community in doing the work of helping other exercise their civic duty. Stay tuned!

VOTE

They’ve registered! They’ve done their research on candidates and ballot initiatives! Now it is time to vote! We need to start thinking about what we can do both on individual level and as a team to help as many people get to the polls as possible. To start, you'll find some resources below that can help you encourage and empower others to learn what’s on the ballot this election season and where to find their polling locations.
