Worship Sunday @ 11 amScripture: Luke 1:67-79
Join us for the last Sunday of Advent as we light the candle of JOY! Pastor Teresa’s sermon is entitled “Songs of the Season” and we’ll continue our theme Ancestral Knowledge with a look at the words spoken by Zechariah, the father of John the Baptist from Luke 1:67-79. Of all the Biblical characters appearing at this time of year, Zechariah is often overlooked. His story, however, is fascinating - including a God-mandated silent retreat! We’ll also hear a modern re-telling of The Magnificat by M. Barclay. This is also a special Sunday as we continue our tradition here at UUMC of blessing handmade blankets that will be shared with area hospitals for use in their Neo-Natal Intensive Care Units. |

Stewardship Update
Thank you for your financial pledge to UUMC for the coming year!
During our stewardship campaign this fall, we urged our church community to “Dare to Dream,” and I’m pleased to report that we have already surpassed our stewardship commitments from 2025 even as pledges continue to come in for 2026. And we are close to reaching the lofty goal that we set for our campaign to increase our pledged giving by 8%. We are blessed to have people like you who are so committed to the mission and ministries of UUMC. Your pledge provides the financial foundation that allows UUMC to do so much good in the world.
On behalf of the Finance Committee, I thank you for your financial commitment and for all your gifts to our community. Let’s continue to dare to dream together.

Land and Legacy Update
We’re so grateful for all who attended our Town Hall back in November and/or our digital follow-up. If you weren’t able to attend, we’ve attached a link to the slide deck here.
For everyone who was able to attend, we have a quick favor to ask. We’ve put together a quick survey and would love to get your feedback. It is only six questions and would be helpful to get your thoughts. We’ll be circling back early in the new year to continue this conversation. |

Resources for Grief and Loss
If you are struggling this season you are not alone. We’ve complied some of our favorite resources about grief during the holiday season as well as some other kinds of loss. You can find them at uumc.org/longest-night-resources. Read them and share them with a friend who might need them. |

Advent Offering
This year’s Advent Offering will go to The Immigration Law & Justice Network, the parent organization of Austin Region Justice for Our Neighbors (ARJFON). This UMC-affiliated non-profit is passionately engaged in serving immigrants as they seek legal status in the United States, by providing free or low-cost expert legal counsel, advocacy, and support services. Through affiliated sites across the country, Immigration Law & Justice Network pursues justice for all those they serve, while offering a sense of safety, trust, and belonging. Learn more on their website.
If you would like to contribute to this year’s Advent offering, write “Advent Offering” on the offering envelope or memo section of your check. You can also give by visiting our website and donating to the “Advent Offering.” At this time of the year when we remember the birth of Jesus, we also acknowledge that he was a refugee and recall the journey of his parents who fled their home in search of safety. We are grateful for organizations like ILJN who are committed to the work of justice for immigrants and refugees. Their vision is, “a nation where every immigrant has access to justice in an anti-racist immigration system that honors the dignity of all people.” Amen! |

On Friday, the Youth gathered for their annual Christmas Lock-in! There were plenty of the normal activities like movies, building gingerbread houses and even some "Reindeer Games!" They also spent some time volunteering for Open Door, sorting and distributing warm weather items such as thermal underwear, wool socks and flashlights. |
