Worship Sunday @ 11 amScripture: Matthew 2:1-12
It’s the beginning of a New Year and we gather for worship this Epiphany Sunday! We remember the visit the magi made to Jesus and celebrate holy communion. The sermon text is the traditional reading of the wise men from Matthew 2:1-12 and Pastor Teresa is preaching. As we remember the gifts presented to Jesus, we are collecting stocking caps and gloves for our Open Door guests. Please bring these donations to worship and keep them with you in the pew as the children will be collecting them during the children’s time. We will have “Star Words” available. The use of star words, also called “star gifts,” is a prayer practice connected to Epiphany and the new year that has been growing in popularity in Protestant churches for nearly a decade now. The idea is that a list of intention words, or guiding words, are written or printed on pieces of paper for individuals to take. Individuals are often encouraged to place their star word somewhere they will see it regularly throughout the year to allow consistent reflection on how God has moved through, around, or in connection to that word. |

“Epiphany is a day in Chrisitan traditions when we remember the Magi’s journey, following a star from nations around the world to meet Christ as an infant. Later, when King Herod attempts to manipulate them to reveal the location of the child he wants to kill, they, in sacred disobedience, ignore his request.” – Cole Arthur Riley |

Stewardship Update
Thank you for your financial pledge to UUMC for the coming year!
During our stewardship campaign this fall, we urged our church community to “Dare to Dream,” and I’m pleased to report that we have already surpassed our stewardship commitments from 2025 even as pledges continue to come in for 2026. And we are close to reaching the lofty goal that we set for our campaign to increase our pledged giving by 8%. We are blessed to have people like you who are so committed to the mission and ministries of UUMC. Your pledge provides the financial foundation that allows UUMC to do so much good in the world.
On behalf of the Finance Committee, I thank you for your financial commitment and for all your gifts to our community. Let’s continue to dare to dream together.

Land and Legacy Update
We’re so grateful for all who attended our Town Hall back in November and/or our digital follow-up. If you weren’t able to attend, we’ve attached a link to the slide deck here.
For everyone who was able to attend, we have a quick favor to ask. We’ve put together a quick survey and would love to get your feedback. It is only six questions and would be helpful to get your thoughts. We’ll be circling back early in the new year to continue this conversation. |
