| Tuesday Night Lights: Tending the Garden, A Study on Christian Mysticismbegins February 24 | 7 pm | Library or Zoom
When you hear the phrase Christian Mysticism, what comes to mind? Many of us know it’s an ancient, and life-giving stream within our faith—yet the Mystical texts can feel obscure, and the mystics themselves can seem hard to approach. If you are curious… Read More |

Worship Sunday @ 11 amScripture: John 2:1-11 and Matthew 13:31-32
This Sunday is the first Sunday of Lent and we begin with GOOD NEWS! Our sermon series for the season of Lent is inspired by the creative team at A Sanctified Art. The scripture lessons are John 2:1-11 telling the miracle at the wedding of Cana and Matthew 13:31-32, the parable of the mustard seed. Pastor Teresa is preaching and the Sanctuary Choir sings “Welcome to God’s Love” by Mark Miller. Children’s Director Jillian Moore will lead the children in the annual tradition of “burying the Alleluia’s” for Lent and church member Taylor Raley will be in worship to “Tell us something good!” Plan to stay after worship for a report from Land and Legacy. Lunch is provided. |

When it comes time to write my obituary for the local paper, please do not start with my résumé. Do not start with my career or my worldly accomplishments (however small they may be). Do not take up space writing about my alma mater or outlining the entire family tree (we know who we are). Instead, spend your precious little word count on how beautiful it all was. Write about the dinner parties and the fireside chats. Write about the evenings we spent on the front stoop counting fireflies. Write about summers in the mountains and the garden that we grew. Write about the seasons we cried out to God, and the prayers that God answered. Write about the nights we danced, and the days we laughed. When it comes time to tell the story of my life, please take a lesson from the Gospel of John, and start with a wedding. Start with a miracle. Start with the fact that all of it held joy. — A Sanctified Art |

Lenten Offering
This year’s Lenten Offering will go to Austin Sanctuary Network
As it reads on their website, Austin Sanctuary Network is “a place where love and protection are living realities. Based on this, the Austin Sanctuary Network (ASN) is a coalition of faith communities, immigrants and other community members of civil society and organizations in and around Austin, Texas, that support immigrants fleeing violence or in danger of deportation. Our values include honor and respect for every individual and an inclusive community composed of equals with a foundation of non-violence. We confront violent structures and actions with bold compassion and courageous love, standing up for people’s rights, regardless of status.” Learn more on their website.
If you would like to contribute to this year’s Lenten offering, write “Lenten Offering” on the offering envelope or memo section of your check. You can also give by visiting our website and donating to “Special Offerings.” |

Amplify Austin Day is coming soon! This is 24 hours of giving across Central Texas! During this time the residents of Central Texas are encouraged to support non-profits that do good in our community. Immigration & Rights Resources
In response to recent events, we’ve received several requests to add websites, events, and opportunities to the Econnection and others asking how to help. The Río Texas Conference has put together a resource hub with lots of good information. We also always recommend Austin Region Justice for Our Neighbors, to whom UUMC has been a long time supporter. Their website has a variety of ways to give or get involved. You can also check out the From Our Neighbors and Volunteer Opportunities sections of the Econnection for more specific opportunities we have to share. |
