Miracle Sunday Offering is THIS SUNDAY!
United Methodists around the world have been preparing for, and are now celebrating, the “Miracle Sunday” initiative to add funds to an Endowment for Theological Education. Gifts received through Miracle Sunday will help fund the gap in theological education for emerging pastors in Africa, Europe, and the Philippines, strengthening local leadership and expanding the church’s capacity for faithful, contextual ministry.
This week’s video is from Rev. Simon Peter Sam Koroma of Sierra Leone, who discusses the importance of supporting theological education to aid in the greater development of the church in the nation.
And Bishop Patrick Streiff of Switzerland shares these thoughts to help us prepare to give: “I love many traditional hymns that shaped my faith. I also value new songs that speak to present realities. In the United Methodist Church, we now sing a new song of mission in diverse global contexts. We seek freedom for contextually adapted ministry while remaining connected worldwide. Miracle Sunday is a new song as well: never before have we invited every local church in our connection to offer a generous gift for a common cause. This song of mutual contribution can strengthen theological education for generations in Africa, Europe, and the Philippines. Rooted in a Wesleyan tradition, such education prepares trusted leaders who address spiritual, social, and economic needs. They will help us declare the glory of God among the nations and the marvelous works of God among all peoples.”
Please prayerfully consider how you might participate in the “Love Boldly, Serve Joyfully, Lead Courageously” mission of Miracle Sunday. As a reminder, you can donate online at uumc.org/give; please choose “Special Offering” and include “Miracle Sunday” on the comment line. You may also pay by check on Sunday, noting the same designation on the memo line. Or contact Cindy Reeves, our Director of Finance, at finance@uumc.org to discuss alternate methods of giving.
Thank you for helping us make a substantial contribution to theological education around the world!
