| Worship Sunday @ 11 amScripture: John 13:34-35 and I John 4:7-8; 11-12
Join us for worship for a very special Family Sunday as we recognize children receiving their 2nd Grade Bibles, recognize acolytes, and bless youth beginning their confirmation journey. The scripture readings are John 13:34-35 and I John 4:7-8; 11-12. Pastor Teresa’s sermon “Love Boldly” begins a short three week sermon series on The UMC’s new vision statement that includes the challenge to Love Boldly, Serve Joyfully, and Lead Courageously. The Sanctuary Choir sings “O Love”, text by George Matheson and music by Elaine Hagenberg. We also begin an intentional focus on our Commitment to Service and welcome Tom Hansen who will speak about his commitment to serving as a children’s Godly Play Sunday School teacher. Our Commitment to Service emphasis culminates on Sunday, September 27 with our annual Mission Fair & Pie Competition. |
|
| “The United Methodist Church forms disciples of Jesus Christ, who, empowered by the Holy Spirit, love boldly, serve joyfully, and lead courageously in local communities and worldwide connections. This vision statement complements the Church’s longstanding mission statement, inspired by Matthew 28:1-20: “The mission of The United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” – The United Methodist Church’s new vision statement Learn More |

| | Staffing Update: Campus Ministry Director
The Committee on Campus Ministry is delighted to share this joyful news: following a thoughtful search and discernment process, we have selected Eva McNabb (they/them) to serve as UUMC’s new Director of Campus Ministry!
Throughout the search process, we were deeply impressed by Eva’s enthusiasm for ministry with college students, their gifts for building relationships and creating community, and their vision for nurturing our campus ministry as a place where all are welcome. Eva brings warmth, liveliness, theological depth, and a genuine excitement about accompanying students as they explore faith, life, and community. We are grateful and hopeful for what this new chapter will bring. |
|
| | Eva is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity degree at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary and is in the ordination process with the United Church of Christ, but remains dedicated to ecumenical and interfaith collaboration. Prior to seminary, Eva worked as the Campus Minister at Elizabeth Seton High School in Bladensburg, MD, and led Bible study and music programs as an undergraduate in the campus ministry at St. Edward's University. This past year, they completed their supervised practice of ministry at Trinity Church of Austin, a dually affiliated UMC and UCC congregation. This year, as they continue their degree program part-time, Eva will also serve UUMC part-time in this new role. |

We are especially excited to welcome Eva at a time when we are imagining new possibilities for our ministry with students and our relationship with the wider university community. Campus ministry has long been an important part of UUMC’s identity and calling, and we look forward to seeing how this ministry will continue to deepen and grow with Eva’s leadership and with the support of our whole congregation.
We are grateful to everyone who has supported our campus ministry and participated in this search and discernment process. Most of all, we are excited to welcome Eva into the UUMC community and to begin this next chapter together.
Please join us in giving Eva a warm UUMC welcome!

On Sunday, Pastor Earl gathered UT Austin students, professors, and faculty together for a kickoff lunch! It was such a joy to get all these wonderful people in a room together as they start a new school year. We were also able to share our leftovers with West Campus Collective who distributes meals to fellow students. |
