| I had the privilege of living in Europe, mostly in Brussels, as a teenager. I became fascinated by the medieval and early modern culture (800-1700 CE) and by artists such as Pieter Bruegel the Elder. That experience set me on the road to a Ph.D. (Columbia University) and ultimately a long career teaching Northern European art at the University of Texas from 1979 to 2023, when I |

retired. I held the Kay Fortson Chair in European Art from 2000-2023. I had the opportunity to travel in Europe with my graduate seminar students and to lecture around the world. My writings have focused mainly on German and Netherlandish art as well as on issues of religious culture. |

| Service of Worship Sunday @ 11 amScripture: 1 Corinthians 12:12-26Join us this Sunday for Sunday School Sunday! During worship, our Sunday School leaders will share about their groups and programs. After the service, we will have a chance to meet them in the courtyard for conversation and questions.
We’ll also continue our sermon series, Created for Community. Pastor Earl’s message, “Birds of One Spirit Flock Together,” will reflect on Paul’s famous metaphor of the body and its members (1 Corinthians 12:12–26), exploring what it means to be a Christian community and what makes it special in today’s world.
All are welcome—come and be part of the community! |
|
| “For in the one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and we were all made to drink of one Spirit. Indeed, the body does not consist of one member but of many.” – 1 Corinthians 12:13-14 |

Last Sunday, Megan and the College Ministry Students started off the year with a great evening! They gathered for dinner, but the real fun started after they’d eaten. Aria Rey (who you may remember from being part of previous UUMC Pride Parade Floats) came in to host bingo. Which means it wasn’t just ordinary bingo, they had DRAG BINGO! Everyone had a great time and went home with some fun prizes. They also took home a gift from the Flower Ministry. Each year our Flower Ministry buys succulents for each of the college students, providing them with a gift they can enjoy the whole school year. |
