This might be the type of public faith witness I could get behind. Most of all, I need to be reminded of the lessons these children are teaching us. For starters, there are good people doing good in the world. And, when my heart hardens with weariness about all the bad news, a fitting response is to be still and to be silent—to try and embody the peace I long to see in the world. About those young people reading, one site reads, “In a time filled with noise and conflict, this collective moment sends a gentle but strong message: real change starts within us and expands outward”(source: ‘Science and Astronomy’).
This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday, and we will remember that above all the Holy Spirit is with us—calling us to continue being the church and inviting us into our own transformation. My sermon title, “Breathing Together,” was inspired by a blessing written by Jan Richardson, and you’ll find it below.
What a joy to be your pastor!
