| Church-Wide VoteReproductive Freedom CongregationJuly 27 | 12 pm | Sanctuary
After worship, there will be a brief meeting in the Sanctuary to vote on whether UUMC should become a Reproductive Freedom Congregation. This is a simple “yes” or “no” ballot and all church members are eligible to vote. Under a program of the Texas Freedom Network (TFN), participating congregations affirm the following three key principles: We trust and respect women and people who can become pregnant.
We promise that people who attend our congregation will be free from stigma, shame, or judgment for their reproductive decisions, including abortion.
We believe access to comprehensive and affordable reproductive health services, including abortion, is a moral and social good

| Service of Worship Sunday @ 11 amScripture: John 8:31-32 and Dhammapada 275-276
This Sunday, we continue our sermon series, Holy Envy: Finding God in the Faith of Others. Pastor Earl’s message will explore the shared ground between Buddhism and Christianity—especially, their mutual commitment to compassion and the freedom of humanity. Elements of this Sunday’s worship, including our scripture readings, will reflect this interfaith spirit. Together, we will continue to lift our prayers for one another, for the world, and especially for all those affected by the devastating Hill Country floods. To learn more and support the ongoing relief efforts, please visit the conference website. |
| “Horizons are wider, dangers are greater… No religion is an island. We are all involved with one another… Views adopted in one community have an impact on other communities. Today, religious isolationism is a myth.” – Abraham Joshua Heschel |

Train to Assist in the Texas FloodsEmergency Response Team Basic Training
Early Response Team members are trained to be a helping hand in the aftermath of a disaster. All members of an Early Response Team are required to complete the eight-hour training course.
Pastor Teresa is in communication with our conference's Emergency Response Team to see about a training opportunity here at University UMC in the near future. If you are interested in this training, email Renee Moreno at renee@uumc.org
Everything we hear regarding recovery efforts is that this is a marathon and not a sprint. There will be a need months and even years from now. A training in the near future would position us well to join other volunteers in being deployed to meet the need. Learn more. |

Book DriveDo you have books or magazines to share with the unhoused neighbors who visit our Open Door and Fig Leaf ministries on Saturday mornings? Please consider donating them! Our guests enjoy popular fiction and nonfiction, general-interest magazines, and religious publications. Westerns, mysteries, and "lawyer dramas" are especially welcome. Please refrain from offering anything you wouldn't consider reading yourself. Boxes of books and magazines may be left in the first-floor elevator lobby, near the bins for clothing donations. Thank you! |

Beat The Heat Drive
Summer is upon us, and the temperatures are rising. As the heat intensifies, our unhoused neighbors are especially vulnerable. Open Door and Fig Leaf Ministries are launching a "Beat the Heat Drive" to collect simple items that can bring comfort during these sweltering days. This season, we’re focusing on two key items: cotton bandanas and wet wipes.
Here’s how you can help (now through the end of July): Shop our Amazon Registry. Purchase items and have them sent directly to us. Bring a Donation. Pick up some bandanas and/or wet wipes during your next shopping trip and drop them off in the Open Door and Fig Leaf bins at church.
Together, we can offer a bit of relief and care to our neighbors in need this summer. Thank you for your generosity and compassion! |
