| Service of Worship Sunday @ 11 amScripture: Psalm 107This Sunday we continue our sermon series on “Holy Envy: Finding God in the Faith of Others” and Pastor Teresa’s sermon will take a look at Islam and the gift of diversity. The scripture reading is Nan Merrill’s translation of Psalm 107 (selected verses) and can be found below. The special music will be an arrangement of “Unclouded Day” sung by youth and young adults. We will continue to pray for one another, the world, and the many lives lost and impacted by the Hill Country floods. You can find more resources and information at our conference website. |
| “The only way you have a potluck is if people contribute,” he said recently. “And a potluck is boring if everybody brings the same thing….Everyone gets a seat at the table—but we have to work together.” – Eboo Patel, executive director of the Interfaith Youth Core |

| | Know yourself! Let your aim be to recognize who you are. Aspire to lie as sons and daughters of Divine Love, to enshrine the earth with divinity, To honor all relationships as sacred, and to live in peace and in balance with all living things. Acknowledge the sacredness of every path, albeit different from your own; In this way you honor the Great Mystery and the wonder of all life! Remember always to offer grateful hearts in thanksgiving to the One who lives among us! – Psalm 107 (selected verses), translated by Nan Merrill in Psalms for Praying |

A Message from the Rio Texas Conference Regarding the Hill Country Floods |
| Dear Friends of the Rio Texas Conference,
As we continue to walk alongside our neighbors impacted by the recent flooding, we hold in prayer the heartbreaking stories we are hearing — of lives lost, of loved ones grieving, and of families still waiting for news. Our hearts break for every community and family affected.
Amid this heartbreak, we want to provide meaningful ways for you and your congregation to respond — through worship, prayer, generosity, and preparation — so together we can offer hope and healing. |
| Guadalupe Flood Relief Special Offering As we continue to assess the impact of the flooding along the Guadalupe River and surrounding communities, one of the most effective ways you can help right now is through financial gifts.
Bishop Harvey and our Disaster Response Team encourage churches and individuals to contribute to our Rio Texas Conference Disaster Response Advance #2050, noting “Guadalupe River Flood” on your gift. You may give through your local church, or mail contributions directly to the conference office at: Rio Texas Conference, 16400 Huebner Rd., San Antonio, TX 78248. Your generosity will support immediate needs in the affected areas.
Early Response Team (ERT) Training We are not ready to mobilize volunteers yet; please do not self-deploy. Now is the time to prepare. Early Response Team (ERT) training equips volunteers to offer safe, effective, and compassionate help in times of disaster.
Early Response Team (ERT) training gives us the tools we need to do more than just want to help. It equips us to help safely, effectively, and faithfully, so that we become the hands and feet of Christ for neighbors who are hurting. |
|
| Basic ERT Hybrid TrainingPart I (Online - Zoom): Tuesday, July 15th, 6-9pm Part II (Hands-On): Location for Hands-On to be determined based on registrations. (details will be shared during the Zoom session) Purpose: Prepares new volunteers to safely assist with flood cleanup — including proper techniques for cleaning out flooded homes and tarping roofs. Becoming a Reproductive Freedom Congregation
Should UUMC become a Reproductive Freedom congregation? Under a program of the Texas Freedom Network (TFN), participating congregations affirm the following three key principles: We trust and respect women and people who can become pregnant. We promise that people who attend our congregation will be free from stigma, shame, or judgment for their reproductive decisions, including abortion. We believe access to comprehensive and affordable reproductive health services, including abortion, is a moral and social good.
TFN is an Austin-based grassroots organization of religious and community leaders who support religious freedom, individual liberties and public education. We have been studying and considering this question for a couple of years now, and the Church Council is looking at bringing the above question to the congregation for a vote later this year.
You can find more information about this program on TFN’s website and on our website. |

Book DriveDo you have books or magazines to share with the unhoused neighbors who visit our Open Door and Fig Leaf ministries on Saturday mornings? Please consider donating them! Our guests enjoy popular fiction and nonfiction, general-interest magazines, and religious publications. Westerns, mysteries, and "lawyer dramas" are especially welcome. Please refrain from offering anything you wouldn't consider reading yourself. Boxes of books and magazines may be left in the first-floor elevator lobby, near the bins for clothing donations. Thank you! |

Beat The Heat Drive
Summer is upon us, and the temperatures are rising. As the heat intensifies, our unhoused neighbors are especially vulnerable. Open Door and Fig Leaf Ministries are launching a "Beat the Heat Drive" to collect simple items that can bring comfort during these sweltering days. This season, we’re focusing on two key items: cotton bandanas and wet wipes.
Here’s how you can help (now through the end of July): Shop our Amazon Registry. Purchase items and have them sent directly to us. Bring a Donation. Pick up some bandanas and/or wet wipes during your next shopping trip and drop them off in the Open Door and Fig Leaf bins at church.
Together, we can offer a bit of relief and care to our neighbors in need this summer. Thank you for your generosity and compassion! |
