| Service of Worship Sunday @ 11 amScripture: Acts 2:42-47Join us for worship as we begin our September Sermon Series “Created for Community.” The scripture lesson is Acts 2:42-47 and Pastor Teresa’s sermon is entitled “A Place at the Table.” We’ll also hear a reading from Cole Arthur Riley about the power of community and Coordinator of Youth Ministries and Community Life Natasha Ulack will share in worship about the Ministry Fair coming up on Sunday, September 14. We also celebrate Holy Communion and the altar rail offering will go to the pastor’s discretionary fund assisting persons in need. |

| “There is no greater power than a community discovering what it cares about.” – Margaret Wheatley
“The resurrection of Jesus was simply God's unwillingness to take our 'no' for an answer. He raised Jesus, not as an invitation to us to come to heaven when we die, but as a declaration that he himself has now established permanent, eternal residence here on earth. He is standing beside us, strengthening us in this life. The good news of the resurrection of Jesus is not that we shall die and go home to be with him, but that he has risen and comes home with us, bringing all his hungry, naked, thirsty, sick, prisoner brothers with him.” – Clarence Jordan |

Church Gets Top Score on Fire DrillThanks to Sunday School leaders, church staff members, and the congregation, UUMC scored 100% on the first fire drill in the church that anyone can remember. We cleared the buildings just ahead of the 5-minute benchmark established by firefighters, and no one was hurt. The work to ensure that our campus is safe and welcoming continues; in the meantime, please accept the thanks of the Safety and Security Task Force for your participation and your patience. |
